Leigh-on-Sea has so much for you and your growing family. Easy to find, with two car parks within a few minutes walk of the shops. Roadside parking is also available, but beware if parking in the controlled parking zone - maximum stay is one hour, and the wardens really are on the ball. The Library used to be the Rectory of St. Clement's Church, which sits at the western end of the Broadway, overlooking the estuary. Some of the gardens remain, as Leigh Library Gardens, a popular local park, with a good play area for young children.
The original town of Leigh-on-Sea is down the hill from the shopping area. This has been a fishing community for nigh on 1,000 years, and remains so to this day. When the railway was built it chopped the town in two, the northern section grew and modernised, the southern seaward section has remained much as it was 150 years ago, making it a popular destination for visitors, drawn by it's unique character, pubs, seafood restaurants and galleries.
